Enamel has been used for centuries to add colour to jewellery. It is a wonderfully versatile medium that gives you infinite possibilities to reflect your style. The results can be subtle, graphic, bold or painterly.
Enamel is glass that is applied to metal and then fired in a kiln at about 900 degrees Celsius. It is carried out once all the making has been done and the piece can be fired 5-6 times as the ground glass is applied in the traditional way, using a quill, in thin coats to maximise the clarity and colour. Enamel works best on silver or 18ct gold.
